Walk of Remembrance (Bristol)

A walk to remember all have died in war, including civilians. The walk will visit arms companies and other military institutions around Bristol, which are complicit in the perpetuation of war today.

You are welcome to bring white poppies, photographs/names of the dead, and your thoughts and feelings.

Meet at the University of the West of England (UWE) Frenchay Campus (by bus stops) at 11am (70 bus from city centre). Bring a picnic lunch. The walk finishes on Gloucester Road North near the Air Balloon pub at around 3 pm. The 75 bus will get you back the city centre.

Bristol is home to the MoD’s Defence Equipment and Support Agency (DE&S) and has one of the largest defence/aerospace sectors in Europe. Bristol companies are involved in the design and manufacture of components for missiles and fighter jets used in current conflicts such as Yemen, Iraq and Syria.

During this walk we will be discussing what security really means, defence diversification, and how we can create a safer world for all our children.
