Armed Forces Day is about fuelling support for war and everyday militarism. It has little or nothing to do with providing help for veterans, who need a decent welfare state, not a celebration of militarism.
Thankfully, Armed Forces Day will not go unchallenged. The Peace Pledge Union is working with other anti-militarist groups to support local protests and other events, as well as to challenge the Armed Forces Day National Event, which will this year take place in Scarborough.
If you are organising a protest, vigil or other event in your area, or would like advice on doing so, please contact the PPU at firstname.lastname@example.org or on 020 7424 9444.
