The Peace Pledge Union will be joining with our allies in the Stop the Arms Fair coalition to resist DSEI - one of the world's biggest arms fairs, taking place in London again this September.
Last time, nonviolent protests disrupted the set-up of the fair and drew media attention to the horrific reality of arms dealers touting their wares and doing death deals over coffee. This year, let's make an even bigger impact!
The PPU is only one of the many groups involved in these protests and we're very happy to be part of a wider nonviolent movement that is challenging this appalling event. Many of the protests will be organised by the Campaign Against Arms Trade (CAAT) and other members of the Stop the Arms Fair coalition, of which the PPU is proud to be a part.
However, there will be a PPU presence on every day of the week leading up to the arms fair (Monday 2nd - Friday 6th September), followed by a larger PPU group at the Festival of Resistance on Saturday 7th September. Some PPU members will also be involved in protests the following week (if the fair has not been closed down by nonviolent direct action before then!).
If you want to join with the PPU any of the days, watch out for the Peace Pledge Union banners. Give us a shout on 020 7424 9444 or @PPUtoday if you can't find us among all the people involved.
We are of course happy to march and protest alongside all the other members of Stop the Arms Fair coalition, but have organised a specific PPU group to welcome our members and supporters and to let our allies in other groups know that the PPU is present and supporting them.
Everybody committed to nonviolent resistance to DSEI is welcome to join with us. There is no expectation or pressure for anyone to take part in any particular kind of action.
